Wear it Orange Day in Aid of The Care Workers Charity

This past Tuesday, our teams across the UK came together to celebrate ‘Wear It Orange’ Day, rocking vibrant outfits to raise awareness and funds for The Care Workers Charity, and it was part of the broader festivities of Professional Care Workers’ Week (PCWW), which ran from the 16th to the 20th of September. From fun socks to complete ensembles, our staff and service users truly embraced the spirit of the day, showcasing their creativity and commitment to making a difference!

The Care Workers Charity plays a vital role in supporting the nearly two million care workers in the UK. Founded in 2009, this charity offers crisis grants to those who have worked in the care sector and are facing financial hardships due to unforeseen circumstances. These grants can help cover essential needs or unexpected costs, such as funeral expenses or home repairs, ensuring that our dedicated care workers receive the support they need during tough times

What is Professional Care Workers’ Week?

Professional Care Workers’ Week is an annual celebration dedicated to acknowledging and honouring the invaluable contributions of care workers across the nation. These dedicated professionals provide essential support to individuals in need every single day, often under challenging circumstances. From assisting the elderly and disabled to supporting those with mental health challenges, care workers play a pivotal role in our communities. PCWW is an opportunity to celebrate their hard work, share knowledge, collaborate on best practices, and strategize for the future of social care.

The Significance of Wear It Orange Day

Wear It Orange Day is more than just a fun dress-up event; it’s a powerful statement of solidarity and support. By donning orange attire, CCS employees collectively demonstrated their commitment to raising awareness about the critical work that care workers do. The bright, cheerful colour symbolises the hope and positivity that care workers bring into the lives of those they support. It also serves as a visual reminder of the community’s collective gratitude and recognition of these unsung heroes.

Activities and Highlights

The day was filled with a variety of activities that brought everyone together in the spirit of camaraderie and support for care workers. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Team Photo Sessions

Teams gathered for group photos, showcasing their orange outfits and accessories. These photos were shared on social media, helping to spread the word and encourage others to join in the celebration.

2. Story Sharing

Employees shared personal stories and experiences about how care workers have touched their lives or the lives of their loved ones. These heartfelt accounts highlighted the profound impact that care workers have on individuals and families.

3. Fundraising Initiatives

In addition to raising awareness, Wear It Orange Day also served as a platform for fundraising. In the Isle of Wight, we indulged our sweet tooth with homemade cakes! A heartfelt thank you to Cynthia, the generous Director from CSM, who kick-started our donations with a £500 cheque, and to the Masons for their significant contribution. Thanks to everyone’s hard work and participation, we raised an impressive £1,000 for this worthy cause! contribution, no matter how small, helps provide financial support and resources to care workers in need.

In Thames Valley, our fundraising efforts went even further, raising a phenomenal £3,100 through raffle ticket sales! Special thanks to all the businesses and individuals who donated prizes and supported us. Your contributions mean the world to us!

We also have Luke and Lauryn from our East and West Sussex branches gearing up for an exhilarating 160ft bungee jump on November 2nd, aiming to raise even more funds for The Care Workers Charity. Best of luck to both of them—we’re cheering you on! Visit their JustGiving page.
