7 Tips: Improve Your Mood This Brew Monday

16 January 2026

While the third Monday in January is often called “Blue Monday,” many have chosen to embrace this date as “Brew Monday” a day to share a cuppa and a meaningful conversation.

For many, winter can feel isolating, especially for older adults or those living alone. As a trusted home care company, All Care knows how vital small acts of kindness and connection are for mental wellbeing during this time of year.

7 tips to lift your mood this Brew Monday:

  1. Share a Brew with Someone

Whether it’s a family member, friend, or neighbour, take time to sit down for a chat over tea or coffee. Human connection is one of the most powerful mood boosters.

  1. Get Moving

A short walk, gentle stretching, or chair exercises can release endorphins and improve your energy levels. Even 10 minutes of movement makes a difference.

  1. Listen to Music You Love

Music has an incredible ability to change our mood. Create a playlist of your favourite uplifting songs and let the rhythm brighten your day.

  1. Practice Gratitude

Write down three things you’re thankful for today. Gratitude shifts focus from what’s missing to what’s meaningful.

  1. Connect Virtually

If you can’t meet in person, pick up the phone or schedule a video call. A friendly voice can make loneliness fade instantly.

  1. Treat Yourself

Bake something delicious, enjoy a favourite snack, or indulge in a hobby you love. Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

  1. Reach Out for Support

If you’re feeling low, talk to someone you trust or contact a local support service. During this time of year, it’s especially important to remember that you are never alone.
